CHANDLER, Ariz. (AP) -- Microchip Technology Inc., a provider of microcontroller and analog semiconductors, on Wednesday lowered revenue guidance for the third quarter ending Dec. 31, now expecting sales to fall 7 percent from the second-quarter's $220.7 million. The company said weak demand and inventory correction in the semiconductor industry resulted in lower-than-expected bookings. Microchip is forecasting 15 percent growth from year-ago sales of $178 million, and analysts are looking for quarterly revenue of $219.7 million. President and CEO Steve Sanghi said, "We have reduced inventory levels quite substantially in the last six quarters. We believe this will allow moderate inventory growth without necessitating significant changes in manufacturing capacity." Microchip expects to release third-quarter results after market close on Jan. 25, 2005 |

JFH I'm working in the electronics area and all the semiconductor representatives and direct company people that come around are reporting an upturn in the business. It is modest, but it seems they are all participating. I havn't spoken with MCHP, but believe they should participate as well. |
