That's a remarkably steady slide, and I can't even find news. Some really big holder (like FMR) trying to get out? |

I currently am short puts at both 22.5 and 25. I held off on selling the calls because the stock seemed too strong. I will sell June 30 calls once it hits 28.5 or so. If they get called away I will just sell the 30 puts and let somebody put the stock to me. Hopefully I will be selling some option each month. |

See2See, GLW has been very strong lately. What is the strike price on your covered calls, and how are you playing in now? |

Selling June 25 puts on times of weakness. I expect that the premiums will fall after earnings are announced. The underlying stock is performing well now that the market is treading water. I will also sell the calls if the stock show too much strength too quickly. |

I sold 22.5 puts on GLW instead of selling more covered calls at 25, and have done OK so far, but I am wondering if I now should be buying them back to cover. Or now might be the time to sell the covered calls at 25. I'd like to see it just a little bit higher first. |

It looks like another batch of covered calls that I sold will expire worthless. But the business looks very attractive now in an unattractive environment, so I may not keep selling them. But then everybody knows what the expectations are for the business and for the economy, so I guess maybe another round of covered calls would likely expire worthless, and if they do get called I can sell naked puts to let somebody sell them back to me, and do that monthly until they get put to me. |

I have been selling calls on GLW each month that there is enough premium, thinking that they would get called away, but find myself still holding GLW as the price always seems to be below 25 at expiration. It is quite profitable to sell calls on every peak in GLW and either buy them back on the cheap or watch them expire worthless. But sooner or later GLW will make a quick jump into the 30's and I'll feel like a chump losing it for 25. |

At least I didn't short AAPL somewhere along the line. I kept saying there has to be a place to short AAPL. It can't keep going up like this. The sky is not limitless. But selling Steve Jobs short is apparently very dangerous. |

Still holding GLW as it looks to be still growing, but the price has stagnated for 2 years. I sold AAPL to help buy the GLW. I bought 1000 AAPL at 14.06 and sold at 17.60 and congratulated myself for making a quick 3500 profit to use to buy more GLW. I had made good at first on GLW, but then AAPL took over, split two for one, and is now about 185. That quick 3500 profit cost me about 350000 in potential upside over the next 4 years!! Of course GLW probably doubled or tripled over that time, but it is hard to have bought the right thing at the right time, and then sabotage your success with greed. |

Corning took a major hit over the past month. I think the underlying business is stable and still growing except for a flattening in the LCD glass segment which I think is temporary. Is it time to buy? Do you buy the stock or just buy options, and if options, what month and strike do you like? |

I guess I was not the only one feeling good about the future at Corning. Usually after a quick rise of 20% I am thinking that most of the easy money is already made, but I don't think so here. Is $20 really in the cards? I am fairly sure of it but I don't trust myself on the when part of that equation. I could believe it by the next quarter but would also believe two years. I don't know if the public has forgotten the 99% drubbing that Corning handed to them a few years ago. see2see |

Corning (nyse: GLW - news - people ) reported first-quarter results slightly above Wall Street estimates. The specialty manufacturing firm reported quarterly earnings of 17 cents per share on sales of $1.050 billion, compared with the consensus earnings forecast of 16 cents per share on sales of $1.047 billion. Shares were up 1.5% in after-hours trading. Merrill Lynch said earlier this month Corning will need to "fend off some increased competition at its largest telecom customers" in regard to fiber unit demand but anticipates a seasonal rise in demand. "We expect a seasonal lift in demand for Corning's telecommunications products combined with easing price pressure on LCD glass as customers bring on capacity," it said. Merrill Lynch has a "neutral' rating for Corning shares |
