IDTI up strongly after hours:

"Integrated Device Technology (nasdaq: IDTI - news - people ) rose 7% in late trading, after the semiconductor firm posted second-quarter results above Wall Street expectations. IDT reported non-GAAP earnings of 9 cents per share on revenue of $105.7 million, compared with analysts' consensus forecast of 6 cents per share in earnings on revenue of $105 million. The company also said its board of directors approved a $25 million stock buyback. "

From Forbes:

Integrated Device Technology (nasdaq: IDTI - news - people ) lowered sales guidance for the first quarter, the semiconductor company announced after the close of trading. IDT said it expects first-quarter sales of approximately $93.2 million to $94.2 million, compared with previous guidance of approximately $97.1 million to $100 million. The consensus forecast calls for sales of $100 million. The company cited "a combination of factors" for the shortfall, including "general weakness" in non-Enterprise end markets. The stock was seen down wider than 6% in after-hours trading. Standard & Poor's Equity Research reiterated a "hold" rating on IDT shares in June, after the company announced it will acquire rival Integrated Circuit Systems (nasdaq: ICST - news - people ) for approximately $1.7 billion. "We think the transaction would broaden IDT's end-market exposure, significantly strengthen its clocking business and enable more efficient use of IDT's plant capacity," it said. "One concern we have is that there is very little overlap in non-clocking areas, which could limit synergies." The research firm maintained a 12-month price target of $12.

Analysts ponder chip deal
Friday June 17, 6:00 am ET
By Olaf de Senerpont Domis

Chipmaker Integrated Device Technology Inc.'s bid for rival Integrated Circuit Systems Inc. drew fire Thursday, June 16, with some analysts questioning the timing and price of the deal.

Under terms of the transaction, which was unveiled late Wednesday, each Integrated Circuit share would be swapped for 1.3 Integrated Device shares and $7.25 in cash. The consideration values Integrated Circuit at about $1.7 billion, or $23.54 per share, a roughly 19% premium to the company's closing price Wednesday of $19.74.

comments from Forbes about MU, AMD and ICST:

Micron Technology (nyse: MU - news - people ) will report fiscal third-quarter earnings. Analysts expect the semiconductor company to earn 9 cents per share compared with a loss of 36 cents a year ago. J.P. Morgan earlier this month said Micron and other PC component suppliers such as Advanced Micro Devices (nyse: AMD - news - people ) and Integrated Circuit Systems (nasdaq: ICST - news - people ) are "on track to meet our second-quarter revenue and EPS estimates." J.P. Morgan said its research indicates that PC component demand "appears to have stabilized during the second quarter, although there is some disappointment in the channel from a lack of upside due to the notebook inventory correction during the first quarter." Micron shares ended at $13.86, up 13 cents.
