The Street consensus calls for the telecom-equipment maker to report earnings of 28 cents per share and revenue of $318 million. In the year-ago quarter, ADC announced flat earnings and revenue of $235 million. CSFB maintained an "outperform" rating on the stock on July 22 after ADC said it would acquire privately held Fiber Optics Network Solutions (FONS) for $172 million in cash. "On its face, this acquisition appears to be better than anyone could have hoped for," said CSFB. "Most notably, the acquisition appears to be accretive coming out of the starting blocks, with ADC having opted to pay cash [and] FONS generating substantial revenue growth and already having attained profitability." The research firm maintained a $25 price target on ADC shares. "We continue to expect ADC to meaningfully increase future operating income by virtue of the ongoing evolution of carrier and enterprise communications infrastructure," it said. | ||

Credit Suisse First Boston maintained an "outperform" rating and $25 target price on ADC Telecommunications (nasdaq: ADCT - news - people ), saying the company will benefit from the decision by Verizon Communications (nyse: VZ - news - people ) to accelerate its fiber-to-the-premises rollout. "Verizon’s accelerated FTTP deployment suggests increased economics for those equipment vendors involved in its FTTP deployment, including ADC," CSFB said. Verizon recently indicated it expects its FTTP build to pass 60% of its residential homes by 2010, or approximately 18 million homes, up from prior indications to pass 40% or 10 million to 12 million homes. CSFB said it believes ADC remains leveraged to long-term secular trends such as the migration from copper to fiber, and from core to access spending by service providers. "We believe ADC continues to offer one of the most attractive risk/reward investment profiles in our coverage universe," CSFB said.
